About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Global CyberSafe, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (965 N 975 E, Ogden, UT 84404, USA), which runs Global CyberSafe Academy. By creating an account or using the Academy you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. The Academy is free. A child may use it only through a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on the child’s behalf.

Parents and guardians

  • You must be an adult and the parent or legal guardian of each child you add, and give the information we ask for truthfully.
  • You are responsible for your account, your password, your family code and your children’s PINs. Keep them private and tell us right away if you think someone else is using them.
  • You decide whether the AI tutor is turned on, and you approve or refuse friend requests for your child. Please supervise younger children’s use of the internet.
  • Use a first name or nickname for your child, not their full name.

Acceptable use

Everyone using the Academy — parents, children, teens and teachers — agrees not to:

  • share personal information (full names, addresses, phone numbers, schools, photos of faces, social media accounts) about themselves or anyone else;
  • bully, harass, threaten, or post anything hateful, violent, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate for children;
  • try to contact children outside the Academy, or ask a child to do so;
  • sign in as someone else, share or guess PINs or passwords, or get around safety features such as parent approval of friends;
  • attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or use bots or scripts;
  • use the AI tutor to create content unrelated to learning or to try to make it produce harmful content;
  • use the Academy for advertising, fundraising, or any commercial purpose.

We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we will report suspected child exploitation to the authorities.

Teachers and the Culture Exchange

  • Teacher accounts must be approved by our team. You must be a real educator and give accurate information about yourself and your school.
  • Posts and session proposals are reviewed before they are published, and we may decline, edit for safety, unpublish or remove them at any time.
  • Do not include students’ names, faces, voices or other personal information in posts, photos or proposals. Only post photos you have the right to share.
  • Meeting links in older session proposals are for teachers only. You are responsible for following your school’s rules (including parental permissions) when you run a live exchange with your class, and for supervising your students during it.
  • Never use the Academy to contact a student individually.

Live classroom video calls

If you join or host a Culture Exchange video call, you agree to:

  • Run it only from a classroom computer, at school, with your class, and supervise your students for the whole call. Never give a call link or access to a student, and never let a student join from another device or from home.
  • Never record the call by any means — including the service’s own tools, screen capture, screen recording software, or a phone or camera pointed at the screen — and never take or share pictures of it.
  • Keep students’ full names and other personal information off the screen (name tags, boards, documents), and remind students never to share personal information such as full names, addresses, phone numbers or social media accounts.
  • Admit only the partner classroom’s approved teacher(s). End the call immediately if anything inappropriate happens, or if anyone unexpected appears.
  • Report any incident to us at info@globalcybersafe.org as soon as possible, and follow your school’s own reporting procedures.

The AI tutor and AI hints

  • The AI tutor and hints are optional and are turned on only by a parent.
  • They are generated by a computer model and can be wrong, incomplete or confusing. Check important answers with a teacher, parent or trusted source.
  • They are learning help only — never medical, legal, financial, psychological or other professional advice, and not a replacement for a teacher.
  • Children should not type personal information into the tutor. If a child is in danger or needs help, they should talk to a trusted adult or call local emergency services; the tutor cannot help in an emergency.
  • Parents can read the tutor conversations from the child’s data download and can turn the tutor off at any time.

Content and ownership

  • The lessons, quizzes, games, graphics and software of the Academy belong to Global CyberSafe or its licensors. You may use them for personal, family or classroom learning, but not copy, sell or redistribute them without our written permission.
  • You (or your child) keep ownership of what you create, such as math problems a child writes or posts a teacher publishes. You give Global CyberSafe a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, review, display, adapt (for example, to translate or correct) and use that content within the Academy and for our nonprofit educational mission. A teacher can ask us to remove their posts at any time; deleting a child’s profile deletes the problems they wrote.
  • If you believe something in the Academy infringes your rights, write to info@globalcybersafe.org.

No warranty and limitation of liability

The Academy is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that lessons or AI answers are accurate or complete, and Global CyberSafe is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from its use.

Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, including consumer-protection laws in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, or in the European Union.

Closing an account

You can delete your child’s profile or your own account at any time from the dashboard, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or to protect children, and we may change or stop offering parts of the Academy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Weber County, Utah, unless the law of your place of residence gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will show the new effective date at the top of this page and, for important changes, notify parents and teachers by email or on their dashboard before the changes apply.
